Have you ever bought or sold a home… and thought you needed a therapist? If you think about it, a real estate transaction is very likely connected to a life-stage change or life transition. Whether upsizing, right sizing, or downsizing real estate, there is a whole host of emotionally charged reasons and issues that are either behind the transaction or that pop up during the transaction. If it is not with you, then it is with the other side whether they be the buyer or the seller. In all likeliness, they going through their own stressful challenges – and the combination of it all brings a potential powder keg of emotions into the process just waiting for a spark. As a former psychotherapist whose been a REALTOR® for the last 10-years, I’m well aware of this. I lean into my counseling skills on a daily basis to work with many types of “people issues” that often arise and infiltrate a transaction. The responsibility I have to my clients is that of a real estate agent, but often I am playing a much more supportive role – more of a “change agent.” This results in a more successful and smooth transaction. More importantly, it results in happy clients. So, if you ever been in a real estate transaction… and thought you needed a therapist, call me to schedule a time to talk.
